Understand rates, suppliers, local delivery and plan details before comparing electricity options in Rhode Island.

That value is useful because it represents the supply reference point for evaluating an alternative supplier. It is not the total electric rate. Distribution, transmission, taxes, riders, and other regulated bill components can remain after the customer changes suppliers.
Residential Last Resort Service is scheduled around six-month periods, typically changing near April and October. A supplier contract that beats the April benchmark can look different after the next reset. For a 12-month fixed offer, compare the contract with more than one plausible Last Resort Service period rather than assuming the current Price to Compare lasts for the entire year. Confirm the distribution company and eligibility at the service address before presenting competitive-supplier options. Showing both characteristics is more informative than projecting the current 11.092¢/kWh value through months when it no longer applies.
